In 1986 this Airstream was the best and most luxurious motorhome that money could buy – equipped with top of the range appliances, en-suite bedroom, solid oak cabinetry throughout and state of the art entertainment system. Built on a Chevrolet chassis with a powerful 7.4litre “big block” petrol v8 engine. It started its life in Texas then went to California before ending its North American days in Ontario, Canada.
It was imported into the UK in 2010 and since then has been on many family holidays as far south as the French Alps. It starred in “Access all Areas” as the rock stars motorhome and the BBC docu drama “The Rack Pack” as Alex Higgins tour bus. It’s been to Glastonbury numerous times and many more festivals, including Bestival where it was used by the curators as their own accommodation for 3 years running serving as the ultimate in festival VIP glamping.
It has now been semi retired to beautiful Devon where it can be enjoyed by anyone who wishes to share in the Airstream love.
The Airstream has been lovingly restored with the intention of keeping it as original as possible and has had an interior re-fit in a tasteful 1950’s style. This included restoration of all original oak cabinets, re-upholstering the soft furnishings and replacing or restoring the appliances. The layout from the rear to the front is as follows:-

John spent his twenties living in vans in the Alps doing snowboard seasons. He was always tinkering with classic VW’s, owning a split screen campervan and numerous beetles. Then he discovered the Airstream motorhome and fell in love. John’s overseen the restoration of the Airstream and is passionate about preserving it’s character.
Sallie-ann’s first experience of van life was a snowboard season living in a car park in Chamonix in John’s old converted Mercedes lorry. The shower was made of a waste pipe with holes drilled which you had to fill from boiled kettle water. Once they had kids they decided they’d like abit more luxury! “How can you resist an Airstream? It’s like a posh hotel on wheels and takes glamping to a whole new level”
